Nai Thon Beach Phuket

Nai Thon beach is a beautiful one-kilometre-long stretch of white sandy beach that never gets crowded as it has been overlooked by large resort developers, which makes it an ideal spot to get away from the crowds and enjoy a quiet swim, snorkel and paddle boarding.

A top tip is to try some delicious Thai meals and snacks in the shops and vendor stands along the beach, and relax in complete serenity while watching the sun go down over the Andaman sea. Just a 20-minute drive from Phuket international airport, Nai Thon beach lies along Phuket’s quieter northwest coast between Bang Tao beach and Nai Yang beaches.

The drive to the beach is just as beautiful as the Nai Thon beach itself. Coming from the south (Bang Tao Beach, Layan Beach) to Nai Thon beach, the road leads through some of the island’s last remaining virgin jungle, and winds along the stunning Phuket coastline. If driving to Nai Thon from the north (Nai Yang Beach), the road takes you through a quaint village then into a lush green valley before heading down the hill and reaching Nai Thon beach.

Venturing a kilometre or so along the road to the south of Nai Thon beach you’ll find a path that leads down to the hidden Banana Beach, a gorgeous tiny cove with excellent snorkelling.

Nai Thon Beach is bordered by a row of maritime pines, which provides welcoming shade making it a perfect family beach. There is also good snorkeling which can be enjoyed at both ends of the beach.

We do not recommend to swim at Nai Thon beach, or any west coast beaches, in the low season, and we advise you always look around for the possible red flags.
Dangerous surfs can even occur during the high season but they are more prevalent in the low season from Mai to November.
